Micro polyester staple fiber is a type of polyester staple fiber and belongs to the category of synthetic fibers. 

It is called “micro” because its fineness typically ranges from 0.7D to 1.2D, making it finer than standard polyester staple fibers (such as 3D and 7D).

What Can "Micro" Bring?

Micro polyester staple fiber typically measures only 0.7D–1.2D, more than twice as fine as 3D or 7D fibers, resulting in significantly superior performance. Looking at these numbers alone, we might not grasp the tangible difference. How does microfiber achieve better performance? Don't worry—the explanation below will make it clear.

Thinner fibers allow for a greater number of strands within the same weight, resulting in more even coverage. This creates a sensation that standard fibers simply cannot replicate. For instance, when pressing a micro fiber pillow, you'll notice its rapid rebound and lack of stiffness, whereas regular fiber pillows often leave indentations. In quilts, micro PSF creates denser air pockets, making a 1kg micro fiber quilt typically warmer than a 1kg regular quilt—a physical effect driven by fiber density and surface area, not subjective perception.

Regarding skin contact, micro fiber's inherent softness and finer density prevent the micro-irritation (“prickly sensation”) common with coarse fibers in baby products or premium quilts. Even visually, micro PSF filling appears more uniformly fluffy without the clumping typical of standard fibers. Finished pillow cores or cushions exhibit smoother surfaces and a noticeably “sophisticated, refined” texture. These differences are tangibly perceptible to buyers and represent the true value of micro PSF.
