Hollow conjugated fiber is a synthetic fiber featuring a hollow structure combined with a conjugated crimp pattern, commonly used as a filling material. It is frequently found in pillows, cushions, down alternative bedding, toy stuffing, and thermal clothing. The most prevalent raw material is polyester (PET).
“Hollow” indicates the fiber's interior is not solid but features a straw-like hollow structure. This design renders the product lighter (lower density), warmer (hollow structure traps air), more voluminous, and more resilient.
Additionally, “conjugated” here does not refer to the chemical term one but rather to the fiber's unique crimping method. Conjugated fibers are often extruded from two or more polymers. Due to their differing shrinkage rates, they naturally form a spiral crimp. This crimping imparts greater elasticity and better resilience (rapid recovery after compression) to the fiber itself. The fiber achieves higher loft and is less prone to clumping.
Thanks to this hollow structure, hollow conjugated fibers possess unique thermoregulatory capabilities. It promotes air circulation, keeping the body dry even in warm environments. Additionally, the fiber is lightweight and fluffy with a comfortable feel and low allergenicity. It minimizes the risk of skin irritation or allergic reactions, making it an ideal choice for those with sensitive skin.
